#ENDWHALINGNOW

SPECIESISM.WTF has collaborated with The Last Whaling Station to help campaign against whaling in Iceland. In just a few weeks, the Icelandic government will decide the fate of up to 750 whales, by choosing whether or not to grant hunting licences to two whalers, but together we have the power to ensure they are given the rights they deserve.

Bjarkey Olsen Gunarsdottir, Iceland’s new Minister of Fisheries, she is part of the Green Party and last year publicly admitted she was against whaling. Two whalers, Kristjan Lofftson and Steinar Larusson, have now asked for new whaling licences which if granted could allow them to legally take the lives of hundreds of innocent, sentient beings.

Whaling in Iceland has become a heavily politicised topic; politicians face complex requests and have to concede to compromises with the opposition. In fact, the previous Minister resigned after a vote of no confidence. We need Iceland to end whaling once and for all, and hopefully other remaining countries allowing such barbaric cruelty, such as Norway and Faroe Islands, will follow suit.

So we urge you to please SIGN THE PETITION NOW, share this post, and tag @bjarkeyg with messages of support so that she can make the right decision to save whales, not succumb to political pressure, and end whaling in Iceland for good.

Speciesism; the assumption of human superiority, leading to the exploitation of nonhuman animals.

SIGN THE PETITION TO END WHALING NOW.
